| Description | A general introduction to the visual arts designed to create an appreciation of the vocabulary, media, techniques, and purposes of the creative process. Students will critically interpret and evaluate works of art (painting, sculpture, architecture) within formal, cultural, and historical contexts. | ||||||||

The student will be able to: 1. PSLO ALPHA: Reading skills - Demonstrates comprehension of content-area reading material. Identifies all main ideas, supporting details, and vocabulary in reading material; demonstrates a full understanding of the reading. PSLO 1: Critical Thinking Skills ? Uses creative thinking, innovation, inquiry and analysis, evaluation and synthesis of information. Creatively identifies problem, argument, or issue (to determine extent of information needed); differentiates the facts from opinions as relates to situation; constructs possible solutions or prediction or consequences; uses logical, sound reasoning to justify conclusion. PSLO 2: Communication Skills ? Demonstrates effective development, interpretation and expression of ideas through written, oral and/or visual communication. Expresses a strong thesis; organizes information with effective transitions & sequencing of ideas; uses substantial, logical & specific development of ideas; details are relevant, original, credible and correctly documented when appropriate to show an effective development and interpretation of ideas; and presents ideas in appropriate mode of expression for the task. PSLO 4: Teamwork Skills- Shows the ability to consider different points of view and to work effectively with others to support a shared purpose or goal. | Instructor Policies | My office is open on Monday - Friday from 8:30am until 10:45am please set up an appointment before you come. If you need to discuss grades or assignments please set up an appointment. I will not discuss grades over the phone or email. | ||||||||
| Attendance Policy |
Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between attendance and college success. Students are required to attend class. Attendance will effect Final Grade. After 5 absences final grades will be affected and students with more then 8 unexcused absences will receive an F for the course. Please note that sleeping in class, being late for class, and being a disruptive force in the class will all count for absences. A student that is being disruptive in the class will also be removed from the class and student will need approval of Department Chair to be readmitted. |
